Kayla began competing in 7th grade with The Dance Company of Minot and continued to do so until 9th grade. In 9th grade she switched to Studio X and competed there for the rest of her high school career. Within these 4 years she grew as an artist and took many titles. Her sophomore year she placed 1st overall teen soloists at Celebration Nationals 2017. Moving into her junior year she continued to succeed winning the titles “Miss Senior Spotlight Billings” and “Miss Senior Leap”. Her biggest accomplishment would be choreographing her own solos. She received many choreography awards for her work and performances of the pieces she made for herself. With one of these solos she choreographed for herself, she placed 2nd overall senior solos at Celebration Nationals 2019. Also at her senior nationals she made Top 5 finalists for the Senior Dancer of the Year Competition. During these years of dancing, Kayla has studied and trained under the styles of contemporary, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, modern, ballet, tap, and musical theatre. Her all time favorite style to choreograph and dance is contemporary!
Kayla feels that the best way to becoming the ultimate dancer is to believe in yourself and know that there are no limits. She has a passion for sharing her love of dance with others through teaching young dancers and pushing them to be the best they can be!
Kayla’s currently attending Bismarck State College for a degree in Biology. After college she wants to attend dental school with goals of either becoming a dentist or an orthodontist.
