DanceWorX studio


TaLena started dancing and doing gymnastics at the young age of five years old. TaLena was a member of the Bismarck Gymnastics Academy where she performed for Golds Gems, Black Gems, and competed in USAG Gymnastics. TaLena has always had a love for studio dance and has studied and competed for Northern Plains Dance, Let’s Dance Studio, Culture Shock Dance Studio and Studio X.  Miss TaLena also has had experience in drill team. TaLena started drill team in middle school with the Simle Sparteens where she was nominated for the “Best Dancer of the Year” award by her teammates her 8th grade year. Furthermore, TaLena danced for the Bismarck Demonettes All Star Team and Varsity Team competing at Regional, State and National competitions and was nominated the “Best Technique” Award by her teammates during the 2013 season. TaLena was with Studio X for her last three years of high school and competed with them under the Direction of Joshua Wise. Miss TaLena has assisted other dance instructors at prior dance studios as well as instructed classes on her own for the past five years. As a dance instructor at DanceWorX, TaLena believes that criticism is the key to becoming a great dance instructor and role model. Considering that TaLena has worked with over 25 dance instructors throughout her years of dancing, she is very well experienced in what young dancers need to help them reach their full potential as a dancer.
At Studio X, TaLena had the opportunity to compete in many competitions winning numerous Regional, National, Specialty and Choreography awards throughout her dance career. Regionally, TaLena placed within the top 3 her sophomore, junior, and senior year. When TaLena was a sophomore she placed 8th overall in the Senior Competitive World Starpower Competition in Las Vegas, Nevada with her solo piece in 2014. In TaLena’s junior and senior year she placed 3rd overall in the Senior category at Celebration Talent Competition Nationals in Wisconsin, Dells the years of 2015 and 2016. TaLena received a Superstar award her senior year (2016), which entitled that she had the highest scoring routine at the Celebration Regionals Dance Competition for ages 13 and over. She has participated in multiple conventions, including Modas, NFDC Boot Camp, Jump, 24/7 and much more. During her thirteen years of dance experience, Miss TaLena has studied various styles of dance including jazz, ballet, contemporary, lyrical, modern, and hip hop, and drill team and acro. Miss TaLena is currently a student at the University of Mary and is planning to graduate in Spring 2020 with a major in Criminal Justice major and a minor in Addiction Counseling.
